SHOWTIME PROMOTES GARY LEVINE AND JANA WINOGRADE TO CO-PRESIDENTS OF ENTERTAINMENT

LOS ANGELES – January 10, 2019 – Showtime Networks Inc. has announced that Gary Levine and Jana Winograde have been promoted to the roles of Co-Presidents of Entertainment, Showtime Networks Inc. In their expanded leadership role, Levine and Winograde will be responsible for developing and supervising all aspects of Showtime Networks programming across all genres, including comedy, drama, unscripted, documentaries and films. They will oversee the company’s production, program operations, business affairs, casting, scheduling, research and home entertainment, and serve as liaisons to CBS Corporation’s international and domestic distribution groups. Both will continue to work closely on all programming related matters with the network’s marketing, creative, digital media, acquisitions and entertainment communications departments. In her new role, Winograde will also now serve on the board of Smithsonian Networks. The announcement was made today by David Nevins, Chief Creative Officer, CBS Corporation and Chairman and CEO, Showtime Networks Inc., to whom Levine and Winograde report.

In addition, Amy Israel has been promoted to Executive Vice President, Scripted Programming, Showtime Networks Inc., and Vinnie Malhotra has been promoted to Executive Vice President, Nonfiction Programming, Showtime Networks Inc. Both will report to Levine and Winograde. Israel will now be responsible for the development and creative oversight of SHOWTIME original scripted series, including drama, comedy and limited series. Her direct reports will include the seasoned team of SHOWTIME scripted programming executives. Malhotra will take an expanded role as the creative force behind the development and production of the network’s growing slate of original unscripted and documentary programming, as well as all documentary theatrical releases at SHOWTIME. He will also develop and produce scripted programming based on real events and real-life newsmakers, such as the upcoming Roger Ailes limited series based on Gabriel Sherman’s bestselling book, The Loudest Voice in the Room. Malhotra will continue to develop and produce sports documentaries like the Emmy® Award winning film DISGRACED, in partnership with Stephen Espinoza, President, Showtime Sports and Event Programming.

Since Levine joined the network as head of original programming in 2001, SHOWTIME has been transformed into a major series player with provocative, distinctive and acclaimed series that include ESCAPE AT DANNEMORA, KIDDING, WHO IS AMERICA?, Billions, PATRICK MELROSE, THE CHI, SMILF, TWIN PEAKS, The Affair, Ray Donovan, Shameless, Nurse Jackie, Weeds, Episodes, The L Word, The Tudors, House of Lies, Masters of Sex, Penny Dreadful, Californication, Dexter and the upcoming BLACK MONDAY and CITY ON A HILL. In addition to his series work, Levine has overseen the network’s original movies and documentaries. Prior to joining Showtime Networks, Levine headed development at Warner Brothers Television, Witt-Thomas Productions and ABC (drama), resulting in several memorable primetime series including The West Wing, Blossom, and the inimitable Twin Peaks (later revived as a limited series for SHOWTIME). He has also served as President of Icebox, a pioneering Internet entertainment company, where he produced 30 flash-animated web series created by A-list writers from TV and film. Levine began his professional career in theatre and was a producer with New York’s Roundabout Theatre and the Puerto Rican Traveling Theatre, and served for five years as the Managing Director of the acclaimed Williamstown Theatre Festival. A graduate of Binghamton University, Levine is a practicing lay cantor and lives in Santa Monica with his wife Maxine. They have two daughters.

Winograde joined Showtime in 2017 as President, Business Operations, West Coast, and had oversight of financial and business strategy relating to the acquisition, development and distribution of Showtime content. She also held key responsibilities with respect to the development of new business models and content monetization domestically and internationally, working closely with Armando Nunez (President and Chief Executive Officer for the CBS Global Distribution Group and Chief Content Licensing Officer for the CBS Corporation). Winograde’s financial and strategic oversight of Showtime content will expand in her new role. She previously spent 23 years at ABC Entertainment in numerous senior roles, most recently as Executive Vice President, Head of Business Operations. There, she oversaw the network’s business endeavors, including managing the network’s operating, development and programming budgets and playing a key role in strategic planning. She also oversaw business related to the development and acquisition of all primetime, daytime and late-night programming for the ABC Television Network and first-run syndication, as well as all related deals and agreements, including marketing, digital and music. Prior to joining ABC, Winograde was an associate at Munger, Tolles & Olson. Born and raised in California, Winograde graduated Order of the Coif from Boalt Hall School of Law at the University of California at Berkeley and holds a B.A. in Sociology from the University of California, San Diego. She currently resides in Los Angeles with her husband and two daughters.

Israel joined Showtime Networks in 2011 as Senior Vice President, Original Programming where she has shepherded a number of SHOWTIME original series, including BILLIONS, SMILF, THE AFFAIR, MASTERS OF SEX, as well as the upcoming BLACK MONDAY. Prior to Showtime, Israel served as New Regency’s Executive Vice President of Production as well as Head of Production and Acquisitions at Paramount Vantage, where she oversaw the development and production of a number of Academy Award®-winning films including No Country For Old Men, There Will Be Blood, and was instrumental in the acquisition of the Academy Award-winning documentary An Inconvenient Truth. Previously, Israel was Co-Head of the Acquisitions and Co-Production department at Miramax Films, where she was responsible for the acquisition and co-production of over 60 movies including such seminal films as The Others, Life Is Beautiful, Il Postino, Kids, Swingers, Flirting with Disaster, Sling Blade, Clerks and Trainspotting. As a producer, Israel executive produced In Time, Shall We Dance and Hysterical Blindness.

Since arriving at SHOWTIME in 2015 in the newly created role of Senior Vice President, Documentaries, Unscripted and Sports Programming, the Emmy and Peabody Award-winning Malhotra has spearheaded the development of the Showtime Documentary Films portfolio that focuses on the issues that are integral to society today, including multi-part docuseries THE FOURTH ESTATE, SHUT UP AND DRIBBLE, THE TRADE (recently named best episodic series by the International Documentary Association) and THE CIRCUS. He has also steered critically-acclaimed documentaries that focused on the lives and legacies of culture-defining and at times controversial figures, including ERIC CLAPTON: LIFE IN 12 BARS, WHITNEY. “CAN I BE ME,THE PUTIN INTERVIEWS, the Sundance Film Festival Grand Jury Prize winner WEINER and RISK, as well as the upcoming documentary XY Chelsea. Previously, Malhotra served as senior vice president for development and acquisitions at CNN Worldwide, where he created and spearheaded the launch of CNN Films, and also handled the development and production of CNN original series, such as the Emmy-winning Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown. A former program development executive at ESPN, where he served as vice president and executive producer for content development, Malhotra began his career in 1997 with ABC News.

In October, Nevins became Chief Creative Officer, CBS Corporation, in addition to serving as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Showtime Networks. Nevins is responsible for oversight of programming, marketing and research across CBS Television Studios, the CBS Television Network’s Entertainment division, Showtime Networks and, in conjunction with CBS Interactive, programming for CBS All Access. He also oversees CBS’ interest in The CW, a joint venture between CBS Corporation and Warner Bros. Entertainment. Nevins oversees all aspects of Showtime Networks Inc. and its channels, overseeing the programming, distribution, business development, finance, marketing, digital media, network operations and corporate communications teams, as well as SHOWTIME Sports® and Smithsonian Networks.

Levine, Winograde, Israel and Malhotra are based in the SHOWTIME West Coast offices in West Hollywood.
