TROPHY CASE HOLDS A LOT OF SILVER: “BIG BROTHER: CELEBRITY EDITION” FINISHES STRONG

NETWORK HAD LAST WEEK’S MOST-WATCHED NON-OLYMPIC PRIMETIME SHOW, COMEDY AND BROADCAST DRAMA

As the Winter Games come to a close, a review of broadcast programming not originating from PyeongChang reveals that CBS finished a very strong second for the week on six of seven nights against Olympic competition, according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings.

Led by several episodes of BIG BROTHER: CELEBRITY EDITION (Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday’s two-hour finale), the finale of season 30 of THE AMAZING RACE, and audience magnets THE BIG BANG THEORY, YOUNG SHELDON and NCIS (all encores), the Network was #2 for the week in viewers (4.83m), adults 25-54 (1.3/4) and adults 18-49 (0.9/3, tie).

For the week, CBS had the #1 non-Olympic prime program (60 MINUTES), #1 scripted broadcast (THE BIG BANG THEORY ENCORE) and the week’s #1 broadcast drama (NCIS ENCORE).

On Tuesday, CBS was second in viewers (6.00m) and adults 25-54 (1.0/03), led by NCIS ENCORE, which was the night’s most-watched non-Olympic program (7.20m).

Wednesday, the Network was also second in viewers (4.74m), adults 25-54 (1.5/05) and adults 18-49 (1.1/04). BIG BROTHER: CELEBRITY EDITION was second in viewers (5.54m) and demos (adults 25-54 - 1.9/06 and adults 18-49 - 1.4/06). BIG BROTHER: CELEBRITY EDITION was the night’s #1 non-Olympic program in those measures. The two-hour season 30 finale of THE AMAZING RACE was second in viewers (4.34m), adults 25-54 (1.3/04) and adults 18-49 (0.9/04). Compared to the season 29 finale on June 1, 2017, THE AMAZING RACE was up +30% in adults 25-54 (from 1.0/03), +13% in adults 18-49 (from 0.8/03) and added +430,000 viewers (from 3.91m, +11%).

Thursday, CBS also finished second across the board. Highlights included THE BIG BANG THEORY ENCORE, which was first in viewers (7.91m), adults 25-54 (2.1/07) and adults 18-49 (1.3/06) and reigned as the night’s #1 non-Olympic program in viewers and key demos. The YOUNG SHELDON ENCORE was second in viewers (7.04m), adults 25-54 (1.9/06) and adults 18-49 (1.2/05).

On Friday, CBS was yet again second in viewers and key measures, led by BIG BROTHER: CELEBRITY EDITION (viewers - 4.64m, adults 25-54 - 1.5/05, adults 18-49 - 1.1/05).

Saturday’s BIG BROTHER: CELEBRITY EDITION was first in viewers (3.54m), adults 25-54 (1.1/4) and adults 18-49 (0.9/4).

Sunday CBS was second in viewers (5.56m), adults 25-54 (1.5/05) and adults 18-49 (1.0/04, tie). 60 MINUTES was first in viewers (8.33m). Compared to last week, 60 MINUTES was up +27% in adults 25-54 (1.4/5 from 1.1/04), +14% in adults 18-49 (0.8/03 from 0.7/03) and added +820,000 viewers (from 7.51m, +11%). 60 MINUTES was the night’s #1 non-Olympics prime program in viewers. BIG BROTHER: CELEBRITY EDITION’s two-hour finale was second in viewers (5.21m), adults 25-54 (1.9/05) and adults 18-49 (1.4/05).

NOTES FOR NERDS

CBS’ four BIG BROTHER: CELEBRITY EDITION episodes in the week ending Feb. 18 added +1.51m viewers (6.32m from 4.81m, +31%), +0.7 in adults 25-54 (2.3 from 1.6, +44%) and +0.6 in adults 18-49 (1.8 from 1.2, +50%) in live plus seven day lift from live plus same day ratings.
