A DR. PHIL PRIMETIME SPECIAL: ESCAPING DANGER, a new one-hour special in which a young mother turns to Dr. Phil for help when she wants to leave her abusive husband behind, will be broadcast Friday, May 19 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network. This special, which will provide a step-by-step plan for leaving an abusive marriage, marks Dr. Phil's sixth primetime special for the Network.
Dr. Phil goes inside her mind of the woman whose abusive spouse has terrified and trapped her in a world of violence for many years. Cameras document every move and decision that she makes as she attempts to escape her abusive circumstances. Dr. Phil provides her with advice -- even on the telephone as her husband is about to return to their home -- as she makes life-saving decisions about how to not only remove herself from the situation, but to do it safely for herself and her two children.
Dr. Phil also has a face-to-face confrontation with the abuser and forces him to take responsibility for his actions.
