CBS CONSUMER PRODUCTS LINES UP STELLAR ROSTER OF MORE STAR TREK LICENSEES FOR 50th ANNIVERSARY

NEW YORK – June 15, 2016 – In the approach to this year’s Licensing Show, CBS Consumer Products unveils more licensees lining up to celebrate the Star Trek franchise’s historic 50th anniversary. Creating a range of products from books and games to collectibles and puzzles, they fill out a merchandising program that provides fans a number of ways to commemorate this milestone year. The merchandising program coincides with a year full of anniversary activities and activations across the globe and new Star Trek stories led by a major motion picture release this summer and upcoming television series in 2017.

The new licensees will pay tribute to both the legacy and the future of Star Trek with a vast array of products and events across key categories. They will roll out throughout the year in mass and specialty retailers.

Fans will have the opportunity to enjoy various firsts for Star Trek – from a themed Corn Maze in Spring Grove, Ill., at Richardson Farm to adult coloring books from Dark Hose Comics, an arcade game from Dave & Busters and sewing patterns from Simplicity Creative Group.

A number of Star Trek baseball nights will also take place throughout the season. Baseball teams including the Boston Red Sox, Miami Marlins, Las Vegas 51s and the Vermont Lake Monsters will all host a Star Trek night. Each event will include an exclusive Star Trek product, available only with ticket purchase to the game.

Additional licensees and products include:

Apparel & Accessories

Novelty & Collectibles

Games

Publishing

“It is a testament to our great partners that we’ve been able to arrange these fun products and amazing celebrations,” said Liz Kalodner, Executive Vice President and General Manager of CBS Consumer Products. “Star Trek fans will have no shortage of ways to honor a show that has meant so much not just to them but the world of pop-culture in general.”

Star Trek celebrates its 50th anniversary in 2016. Born from the mind of Gene Roddenberry, the original Star Trek series debuted on September 8, 1966 and aired for three seasons -- a short run that belied the influence it would have for generations. Launching the careers of William Shatner and Leonard Nimoy, the series also broke new ground in storytelling and cultural mores providing a progressive look at topics including race relations, global politics, the environment, and more. It spawned five more television series and 13 feature films spanning the course of half a century.

A new Star Trek television series, produced by CBS Television Studios, will launch with a special preview broadcast on the CBS Television Network in early 2017. The premiere episode and all subsequent first-run episodes will then be available exclusively in the United States on CBS All Access, the Network’s digital subscription video on demand and live streaming service.   The next chapter of the Star Trek franchise will also be distributed concurrently for television and multiple platforms around the world by CBS Studios International.
