DAFT PUNK UNCHAINED, directed by Hervé Martin Delpierre and co-written with Marina Rozenman is the first independent film which explores an exceptional pop culture phenomenon of the last twenty years: Daft Punk. Between fiction and reality, magic and secrets, theatricality and humility, Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo have created a unique artistic universe. Throughout their career they have remained determined to control every link in the chain of their creative work. The film highlights key moments of their story, from their first school band in Paris to their spectacular triumph in Los Angeles where they won five Grammy Awards for the album « Random Access Memories » in 2014. In an era of globalization and the expansion of social media, they have refused to show their own faces and they orchestrate every detail of their appearances as robots. Their uncompromising approach - which runs counter to our image-obsessed society - and their quest for independence and freedom, throw up questions about our relationship to images, media and fame. Produced by BBC Worldwide France - Jean-Louis Blot, Executive Producer and Patrice Gellé, Producer - with worldwide distribution in 2015, DAFT PUNK UNCHAINED has taken two years to produce. Shot in Los Angeles, New York, Tokyo and Paris, the documentary takes us to the heart of Daft Punk's world which the masked duo has kept so secret. The film includes archives of radio interviews with Daft Punk (from 1996 to 2013), rare footage, and exclusive interviews with their friends and close collaborators.
