WBBM-TV CHICAGO NEWS ANCHOR ERIN KENNEDY TO GUEST CO-HOST ON “THE TALK,” THURSDAY, OCT. 23

Los Angeles – WBBM-TV news anchor Erin Kennedy will guest co-host on THE TALK,  Thursday, Oct. 23 (1:00-2:00 PM, CT/2:00-3:00 PM, ET), joining hosts Julie Chen, Sara Gilbert, Sharon Osbourne, Sheryl Underwood and Aisha Tyler for her first time at the table.  Throughout the week, news anchors from five CBS Owned Stations around the country will be in Los Angeles to serve as guest co-hosts.

During the week of Oct. 20, THE TALK will feature the following:

Monday, Oct. 20: Kristine Johnson, News Anchor, WCBS-TV, New York 

Tuesday, Oct. 21: Irika Sargent, News Anchor, WFOR-TV/CBS4, Miami

Wednesday,Oct. 22: Ukee Washington, News AnchorKYW-TV, Philadelphia

Erin Kennedy is co-anchor of CBS 2 Chicago’s weekday morning (4:30-7:00 AM) newscasts with Kris Gutierrez.

Since December 2011, Kennedy has worked as an anchor/reporter for WKYC-TV in Cleveland, Ohio, where she was the station’s lead anchor/reporter for its coverage of the Cleveland kidnapping victims.  While at WKYC, Kennedy and her colleagues won an Emmy and a regional Edward R. Murrow Award for their coverage of the Chardon School shooting.

Kennedy joined WKYC-TV after working as an anchor/reporter at WPRI and WNAC-TV in Providence, Rhode Island from 2005-11.  She started as a weekend evening anchor, and in 2006 was promoted to anchor/reporter for the stations’ weeknight evening newscasts. Additionally, she was WPRI-TV’s webcast producer and anchor – Webcast en Español – an online newscast in Spanish.

Kennedy began her career in 2003 as a weekend anchor/reporter for KAMC-TV in Lubbock, Texas.  After six months on the job, she was promoted to weekday anchor/reporter at the station and anchored its two-and-a-half-hour weekday morning newscast and guest co-hosted the Spanish language show, Si Se Puede.

Kennedy, who has family in the Chicago area, and her husband, Matthew, celebrated the birth of their first child, Elliot, earlier this year.

CBS’s THE TALK, recently nominated for five Daytime Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Talk Show-Entertainment and Outstanding Talk Show Host, features a panel of well-known news and entertainment personalities who examine current events, pop culture, contemporary issues, family, celebrity and the trending topics of the day. The daily one-hour series is hosted by Julie Chen, Sara Gilbert, Sharon Osbourne, Aisha Tyler and Sheryl Underwood. The hosts swap stories, challenge each other on issues and engage the studio audience and viewers at home about events in the headlines and their own homes. Show segments include guest interviews with entertainers and newsmakers, musical performances, how-to demos and appearances from extraordinary people with stories that engage and inform. The show was developed by Gilbert, who also serves as executive producer.
