CBS First Season-to-Date in Viewers, Adults 18-49 and Adults 25-54

 

CBS placed first in viewers, adults 18-49 and adults 25-54, winning the week by nearly 5 million viewers, the largest margin of victory this season, according to Nielsen live plus same day ratings for the week ending Nov. 6.

For the week in viewers, CBS averaged a season high 12.96m, +4.78 million more viewers than second place FOX (8.18m), followed by ABC (8.07m) and (NBC 7.17m).  Compared to the same week last year, CBS was up +11% in viewers.

 

For the week in key demographics, CBS was first in adults 18-49 (3.4/09) and adults 25-54 (4.4/11).  Compared to the same week last year, CBS was up +10% in both adults 18-49 and adults 25-54.

 

Season-to-date, CBS is first in viewers (13.04m), adults 18-49 (3.5/09, tie) and adults 25-54 (4.5/11) with increases of +2% in both in viewers and adults 25-54 and +3% in adults 18-49 compared to last year.

 

CBS's weekly victories in viewers, adults 18-49 and adults 25-54 were spread across all nights and all genres and included season-high ratings for several series.

 

 

Comedy

 

  •  THE BIG BANG THEORY posted Thursday highs in households (9.4/15), viewers (15.98m), adults 25-54 (6.8/18) and adults 18-49 (5.4/16) and matched its Thursday best adults 18-34 delivery (3.8/13).

 

  •  RULES OF ENGAGEMENT posted its best Thursday deliveries in households (6.9/11), viewers (11.81m) and adults 18-49 (3.7/10).  

 

Drama

 

  •  BLUE BLOODS delivered its largest audience (12.73m) and best adult 18-49 rating 2.1/06) since its series premiere on Sept. 24, 2010.  It also matched series highs in adults 25-54 (3.2/09).

 

Reality

 

  •  SURVIVOR posted its largest audience (11.95m) since Dec. 15, 2010, best adults 18-49 (3.6/10) rating since Dec. 8, 2010 and matched the season-high adults 18-34 ratings (1.9/06). 

 

Sports

 

  •  HOME DEPOT PRIME COLLEGE FOOTBALL (LSU vs. Alabama)scored an 11.5/20 in households with 20.01m viewers, 7.9/21 in adults 25-54, 7.2/21 in adults 18-49, 6.7/23 in adults 18-34, 10.4/27 in men 25-54, 9.3/27 in men 18-49 and 8.8/30 in men 18-34 from 8:00-11:39PM.  This was CBS's most-watched regular season college football game in 22 years (22.50m, Notre Dame-Miami on Nov. 25, 1989). 

 

CBS was first in viewers on five nights and first in adults 18-49 on four nights.  Additionally, CBS had the top-rated broadcast in adults 18-49 on Monday (TWO AND A HALF MEN), Tuesday (NCIS), Thursday (THE BIG BANG THEORY), Friday (BLUE BLOODS) and Saturday (HOME DEPOT PRIME COLLEGE FOOTBALL).

 

CBS had the week's top drama, comedy, news magazine and 20 million viewers for college football on Saturday night.  NCIS was the week's #1 scripted program in viewers, #1 drama in both adults 25-54 and adults 18-49.  THE BIG BANG THEORY was the week's #1 comedy in viewers and adults 25-54.  2 BROKE GIRLS was the week's top new program in viewers, adults 25-54 and adults 18-49. 

 

 

CBS Weekly Highlights:

 

-- On Monday, CBS was first in adults 25-54 (4.7/11), adults 18-49 (3.8/10), adults 18-34 (2.7/09), second in both households (7.0/11) and viewers (11.35m).  CBS won every half-hour in adults 25-54 and adults 18-49 for the sixth Monday in seven weeks and won every half-hour in the comedy block for the seventh consecutive week. 

 

HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER was first in households (6.4/11), viewers (10.49m), adults 25-54 (4.7/13), adults 18-49 (4.2/13) and adults 18-34 (3.9/14).  Compared to last week, HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER added +700,000 viewers (from 9.79m, +7%).

 

2 BROKE GIRLSwas first in adults 25-54 (5.1/13), adults 18-49 (4.3/12), adults 18-34 (3.4/12), second in households (6.7/11) and viewers (10.97m).  2 BROKE GIRLS built on its HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER lead-in by +5% in households, +9% in adults 25-54, +2% in adults 18-49 and added +480,000 viewers (+5%). 

 

TWO AND A HALF MEN was first in adults 25-54 (5.9/14), adults 18-49 (4.7/12), adults 18-34 (3.2/10), second in both households (8.5/13) and viewers (13.90m).  TWO AND A HALF MEN was the night's #1 program in adults 25-54 and adults 18-49 (tied, "Monday Night Football"). 

 

MIKE & MOLLY was first in adults 25-54 (4.9/11), adults 18-49 (3.7/09), adults 18-34 (2.2/07), second in both households (7.1/11) and viewers (11.45m).

 

HAWAII FIVE-0 was first in adults 18-49 (3.0/08), adults 18-34 (1.7/05), tied for first in adults 25-54 (3.8/09, with ABC), second in households (6.6/11) and viewers (10.60m). 

 

-- On Tuesday, CBS was first in households (9.8/15), viewers (15.52m), adults 25-54 (4.5/11) and adults 18-49 (3.2/09).  All three CBS dramas won their time periods in viewers, adults 25-54 and adults 18-49.  CBS won every Tuesday this season in viewers. 

 

NCISwas first in households (12.2/19), viewers (19.71m), adults 25-54 (5.6/14) and adults 18-49 (3.9/11) for the seventh consecutive week.  NCIS posted its largest audience since its September 2011 season premiere.  First-run episodes of NCIS beat first-run episodes of "Glee" every week this season in households, viewers, adults 25-54 and adults 18-49NCIS beat "Glee" by its largest margin to date in households (+7.6), viewers (+12.24m), adults 25-54 (+2.6) and adults 18-49 (+0.9).  NCIS was the night's #1 program in households, viewers, adults 25-54 and adults 18-49. 

 

NCIS: LOS ANGELES was first in viewers (15.52m), adults 25-54 (4.7/11), adults 18-49 (3.4/09) and second in households (9.7/14). 

 

UNFORGETTABLEwas first in households (7.3/12), viewers (11.34m), adults 25-54 (3.2/08) and adults 18-49 (2.3/06). 

 

-- On Wednesday, CBS was first in households (7.3/11), viewers (11.89m), second in adults 25-54 (4.3/10).

 

SURVIVOR: SOUTH PACIFIC was first in households (7.0/11), viewers (11.95m), adults 25-54 (4.8/12) and second in adults 18-49 (3.6/10).  SURVIVOR posted its largest audience since December 15, 2010, best adults 18-49 rating since Dec. 8, 2010 and matched the season high adults 18-34 ratings (1.9/06). 

 

CRIMINAL MINDS was first in households (8.1/12) and viewers (12.94m).

 

CSI: CRIME SCENE INVESTIGATION was first in households (6.8/11), viewers (10.79m), adults 25-54 (3.6/09) and second in adults 18-49 (2.7/07).  Compared to the last first-run episode (on October 19, 2011), CSI was up +3% in adults 25-54 (from 3.5/09) and +4% in adults 18-49 (from 2.6/07). 

 

-- On Thursday, CBS was first in households (8.1/13), viewers (13.13m), adults 25-54 (4.6/11) and a close second in adults 18-49 (3.4/09, -0.1 behind FOX).  CBS posted its best Thursday deliveries in these measures since Premiere Week Thursday, Sept. 22, 2011.

 

THE BIG BANG THEORYwas first in households (9.4/15), viewers (15.98m), adults 25-54 (6.8/18), adults 18-49 (5.4/16) and adults 18-34 (3.8/13). THE BIG BANGTHEORY posted Thursday highs in households, viewers, adults 25-54 and adults 18-49, matched Thursday best adults 18-34 delivery.  THE BIG BANG THEORYposted its third largest audience to-date.  THE BIG BANG THEORY was the night's #1 program in households, viewers, adults 25-54, adults 18-49 and adults 18-34. 

 

RULES OF ENGAGEMENT was first in adults 25-54 (5.0/12), second in households (6.9/11), viewers (11.81m) and adults 18-49 (3.7/10).  RULES OFENGAGEMENT posted its best Thursday deliveries in households, viewers and adults 18-49 and matched Thursday's best performance in adults 25-54. 

 

PERSON OF INTERESTwas first in households (7.5/11), viewers (11.76m), second in adults 25-54 (3.9/09, -0.1 behind ABC).  Compared to last week, PERSON OFINTERESTwas up +4% in households (from 7.2/11), +5% in adults 25-54 (from 3.7/08), even in adults 18-49 and added +140,000 viewers (from 11.62m, +1%). 

 

THE MENTALIST was first in households (8.7/14), viewers (13.66m), adults 25-54 (4.1/10) and adults 18-49 (2.9/08).  THE MENTALIST posted its best household ratings since May 12, 2011, best adults 25-54 and adults 18-49 ratings since Apr. 7, 2011 and largest audience since May 19, 2011 (season finale). 

 

-- Friday, CBS was first in households (6.6/11), viewers (10.37m), adults 25-54 (2.5/07) and adults 18-49 (1.6/05).  CBS posted its best Friday delivery since Premiere Week Friday (Sept. 23, 2011) in households and viewers, matched the season's second best adults 25-54 and adults 18-49 Friday ratings.  Compared to the same night last year, CBS was up +12% in households, +4% in adults 25-54 and down -11% in adults 18-49.   

CSI: NY was first in households (6.4/11), viewers (9.83m), tied for first in adults 25-54 (2.4/06, with NBC), second in adults 18-49 (1.6/05). 

 

BLUE BLOODS was first in households (7.9/14), viewers (12.73m), adults 25-54 (3.2/09) and adults 18-49 (2.1/06).  BLUE BLOODS matched series highs in adults 25-54, posted the second best household rating (behind only the Sept. 24, 2010 series premiere), second best adults 18-49 rating (behind only the Sept. 24, 2010 series premiere by -0.1) and the second largest audience to date (behind only the September 24, 2010 series premiere by -290,000).  BLUE BLOODS was the night's #1 program in best households, viewers, adults 25-54 and adults 18-49.

 

-- From 8:00-11:00 PM, CBS posted the network's best Saturday primetime delivery in households, viewers, adults 25-54, adults 18-49, adults 18-34, men 25-54, men 18-49 and men 18-34 since Jan. 10, 2010 (AFC DIVISIONAL PLAYOFFS SATURDAY "Baltimore Ravens at Indianapolis Colts" (S)). 

 

HOME DEPOT PRIME COLLEGE FOOTBALLscored an 11.5/20 in households with 20.01m viewers, 7.9/21 in adults 25-54, 7.2/21 in adults 18-49, 6.7/23 in adults 18-34, 10.4/27 in men 25-54, 9.3/27 in men 18-49 and 8.8/30 in men 18-34 from 8:00-11:39 PM.  This was CBS's most-watched regular season college football game in 22 years (22.50m, Notre Dame-Miami on Nov. 25, 1989).
